【摘要】:Limitationsonformaldehydelevelshavebeenestablishedforwoodpanelbuildingproductsmadewithurea-formaldehydeadhesivesandpermanentlyinstalledinhomesorusedascomponentsinkitchencabinetsandsimilarindustrialproducts.ThistestmethodisintendedforuseinconjunctionwiththetestmethodreferencedbyHUDRulesandRegulations24CFR3280formanufacturedhousingandbyMinnesotaStatutesSection144.495forhousingunitsandbuildingmaterials.Thistestmethodprovidesameansoftestingsmallersamplesandreducesthetimerequiredfortesting.Formaldehydeconcentrationlevelsobtainedbythissmall-scalemethodmaydifferfromexpectedinfull-scaleindoorenvironments.Variationsinproductloading,temperature,relativehumidity,andairexchangewillaffectformaldehydeemissionratesandthuslikelyindoorairformaldehydeconcentrations.Thistestmethodrequirestheuseofachamberof0.02to1m3involumetoevaluatetheformaldehydeconcentrationinairusingthefollowingcontrolledconditions:4.3.1Conditioningofspecimenspriortotesting,4.3.2Exposedsurfaceareaofthespecimensinthetestchamber,4.3.3Testchambertemperatureandrelativehumidity,4.3.4TheQ/Aratio,and4.3.5Aircirculationwithinthechamber.1.1Thistestmethodmeasurestheformaldehydeconcentrationsinairfromwoodproductsunderdefinedtestconditionsoftemperatureandrelativehumidity.Resultsobtainedfromthissmall-scalechambertestmethodareintendedtobecomparabletoresultsobtainedtestinglargerproductsamplesbythelargechambertestmethodforwoodproducts,TestMethodE1333.TheresultsmaybecorrelatedtovaluesobtainedfromTestMethodE1333.ThequantityofformaldehydeinanairsamplefromthesmallchamberisdeterminedbyamodificationoftheNationalInstituteforOccupationalSafetyandHealth(NIOSH)3500chromotropicacidtestprocedure.Otheranalyticalproceduresmaybeusedtodeterminethequantityofformaldehydeintheairsampleprovidedthatsuchmethodsgiveresultscomparabletothoseobtainedbyusingthechromotropicacidprocedure.However,thetestresultsandtestreportmustbeproperlyqualifiedandtheanalyticalprocedureemployedmustbeaccuratelydescribed.1.2Thewood-basedpanelproductstobetestedbythistestmethodarecharacteristicallyusedfordifferentapplicationsandaretestedatdifferentrelativeamountsorloadingratiostoreflectdifferentapplications.Thisisatestmethodthatspecifiestestingatvariousloadingratiosfordifferentproducttypes.However,thetestresultsandtestreportmustbeproperlyqualifiedandmustspecifythemake-upairflow,samplesurfacearea,andchambervolume.1.3Idealcandidatesforsmall-scalechambertestingareproductsrelativelyhomogeneousintheirformaldehydereleasecharacteristics.Still,productinhomogeneitiesmustbeconsideredwhenselectingandpreparingsamplesforsmall-scalechambertesting.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsarethestandardvalues.Anyvaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
