【摘要】:Theaccuracyofdepthmeasurementsmadebyafathometerorechosounderrequiresanumberofcorrectionsbecauseofthevariabilityofsoundoracousticvelocityinwaterwithchangesintemperature,salinity,anddepthofwater.Inadditioninstabilityoftheequipmentcanalsoresultinsignificanterrors.ForadditionalinformationseePracticeD5073.Calibrationofechosoundinginstrumentsisabsolutelycriticalinassuringtheadequacyofdepthmeasurements.Whenanechosounderhasbeenaccuratelycalibrated,anyobserved(recorded)depthcanberelatedtothetruedepthofwater.Sincetheintendedpurposeofechosoundingistomeasurethex201C;truex201D;depth,anindependentx201C;truex201D;referencemustbeused.Abar-checkisthemostwide-spread,easiesttoconstruct,andmosteconomicalmechanicalmethodtodeterminecorrectionsforinstrumentandvelocityerrors.Thisprocedureexplainsthecalibrationofafathometerorelectronicdepthsounderusingabar-check.Bar-checkingtechniquesandequipmentaregeneralinnatureandmayneedtobemodifiedforuseinspecificfieldconditions.1.1Thispracticeprovidestheuserwithproceduresusedinmanuallycalibratingthefathometerorelectronicdepthsounder.Thisnarrativedescribescalibrationterminology,describesacceptableenvironmentalconditionsforcalibration,anddescribesthecalibrationprocedures.1.2Thereferencescitedcontainusefulinformationintheconstructionandthecorrectoperationofthecalibrationequipment.1.3Anyreferencescitedinthisnarrativetospecificproductsorbrandnamesaremadeforinformationonly,andisintendedtobedescriptive,butnotrestrictive,ofproductsthatwillperformsatisfactorily.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
